This cake became extremely popular in 1999 after Pope John Paul II visited his home town Wadowice and shared memories from his youth: “After exams we went for kremivkas.” The cream cake from Wadowice confectioneries not only went down in history as the “favorite dessert of the Pope” but also became a symbol of his candor and benevolence.  In Poznan and Rzeszów, for the Pope’s birthday a huge kremivka was baked, and in 2006 a 900-kilogram cream cake even entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
